The Goddess at Beltane
The Goddess at Beltane

Natures rhythms are intrinsically linked with our own internal energetic cycles.

I like many of us have felt like hibernating over the winter, staying close to home, not feeling called to be in community and hunkering down. Our patterns mirror the patterns we see in the trees, to conserve their energy and sap deep in their roots, awaiting the coming of the light in the spring.

As the daylight hours increase, it causes a chain reaction in nature; the sap rises in the trees, sending energy along the branches to the leaf buds. As the leaf buds explode into life all around us, I feel a renewed vigour within. I feel a rising desire for my body to be seen, to be outdoors and feel the sun and air on my skin and to share in the pleasures of connection, to participate more fully in life.

I have always felt the sap rising within me strongly at this time of year. I had thought this was particularly strong for me because May is my birth month and my solar energy is rising to a peak then, but I know now that I am simply deeply in tune with the sun and moon tides.

I feel this universal life force energy, moving through me like a tide.

Many people I know are sensitive to the changing seasons and the ebb and flow of the light. They can feel depleted or down-hearted during the darker months of the year and long for the return of the lighter evenings.

I personally can feel quite disorientated at the artificial ‘changing of the clocks’ and it can take a week or two for my natural bio-rhythm to adjust.

If this is your experience, perhaps you too are feeling the sun and moon tides running strongly within you.

Goddess energy touches us all at certain times of the year and our sexual drives naturally rise and fall in tandem with what we see and feel in nature.

The Celts of this land understood this intrinsic link between nature and our bodies and held ceremonies throughout the year to mark points of high energy.

Four of these festivals were a celebration of fire.

Imbolc (February),

Lammas (August, harvest time),

Samhain (Halloween)

and the peak of the cycle; Beltane on 1st May ~ a celebration of fertility.

The rhythms of the seasons and the body were celebrated by the lighting of bonfires and men and women came together here to enjoy their natural sexual desires and an abundance of pleasure.

I imagine music, dancing, love-making and merriment in the sacred groves and woods all over this beautiful land, their love-making both a prayer and an offering to the land that an fertile season may follow.

At this is the point in the cycle we may feel fertility in many ways. It may be the return of motivation, your adventurous spirit calling to you, a desire to explore new places, people or pastimes, a need to grow, to venture forth and transform ourselves anew, as the trees transform themselves anew year upon year.

In practice;

Goddess energy rises and falls throughout the year, much like Venus on her cyclical journey, and the peak of her energy is almost upon us. With the unstoppable return of life force energy and the vibrant expression of life all around us, are you noticing a corresponding tide within your physical, sexual or mental body?

If you feel yourself reaching a peak of vibrancy and vitality over the coming weeks, and would like a safe place to express this energy in its fullness, reach out to me for a discovery call in the coming fortnight.

I pledge to open more appointment slots around Beltane and Lammas for those who are in tune with the goddess rising within.

Please quote ‘Goddess Rising’ when we speak, and I will do all I can to accommodate your desires.
