Foundational practices I return to again and again to support flow and awareness.

Waking up the Hands

This practice was created by Betty Martin, and comes from her body of work on The Wheel of Consent

 ~

When to use this

When you feel a bit disconnected, numb or out of your body

 ~

What it supports

Reconnection with sensation, grounding and a sense of calm

 ~

How to do it

Sit in a comfortable position with your back straight and rest your hands in your lap.

Choose which hand will receive touch first

Set a timer for 3 minutes

Give touch to the receiving hand with the intention of leaning-in to pleasure.

Reset the timer and repeat on the other hand

 ~

Tips

Use a cushion on your lap, so the receiving hand is fully relaxed

Try using an object to wake up the hands (a hair clip, a pen, a crystal, a feather, anything really!)

Kundalini Shaking

This practice was created by Osho

 ~

When to use this

When you feel stuck, heavy, antsy or a bit lethargic

 ~

What it supports

Movement through the body and release of held tension

 ~

How to do it

Stand with your feet shoulder width apart

Let the body begin to shake gently, bobbing at the knees

Allow the movement to build naturally.

Oscillate between doing and allowing the movement to become involuntary.

Let the shake shake you

Continue for up to 15 minutes
